02 Data Collection
Combly collects no personal data whatsoever. We do not gather, transmit, sell, rent or otherwise process any information about you or your device.
Specifically, the app does not collect:
- Names, email addresses or any contact details
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs or IP addresses
- Location data of any kind
- Usage analytics, crash telemetry or behavioural data
- Photos, contacts, files or any other content on your device
03 Data Usage
The beekeeping information you enter — apiaries, colonies, inspections, queen records, treatments, feeding, harvests, varroa counts, tags, notes, goals and app settings — is stored only on your device and is used only to display it back to you and to compute your on-device statistics, streaks and reminders.
No content is uploaded, backed up to a server, or processed anywhere else.
04 Data Sharing
We share nothing, because we receive nothing. There are no third parties with access to your records, no advertising networks, and no data brokers.
The one exception is entirely under your control: if you use the in-app Export feature, the resulting JSON or CSV file is handed to your device's own share sheet so that you can send it wherever you choose. Combly does not transmit it anywhere itself.
05 Data Security
Your records are stored locally using industry-standard on-device storage:
- Hive — a fast local database for your beekeeping records.
- AES-256 encryption (
HiveAesCipher) for the box holding free-text field notes, which can be personal. - flutter_secure_storage — backed by the Android Keystore — for app settings, season goals and the local encryption key.
Because nothing is transmitted, there is no server-side database that could be breached. Device-level protection (screen lock, disk encryption) remains your responsibility.
06 Data Retention
Your data is retained on your device until you remove it. You can erase it at any time by:
- Using Settings → Clear all data inside the app, or
- Uninstalling Combly, which removes its entire local storage.
We hold no copies, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
07 No User Accounts
Combly has no sign-up, no sign-in, no password and no cloud profile. You never provide credentials, and there is no account for us to associate data with.
08 Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Combly does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is a general-purpose beekeeping tool, is not directed at children, and is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme. Since no data is collected from any user, there is no risk of collecting a child's personal information.
09 User Rights
You retain complete control of your information at all times:
- Access: all your data is visible in the app.
- Portability: export a full JSON backup or a CSV of every inspection.
- Erasure: Settings → Clear all data, or uninstall the app.
- Correction: edit or delete any individual record directly.
10 No Third-Party Services
Combly integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, attribution or social SDKs. It contains no trackers. The app's functionality is provided entirely by open-source Flutter packages that run locally on your device and make no network calls.
11 Permissions
Combly requests exactly one Android permission:
INTERNET— used solely to display this privacy policy page inside the app (Settings → Privacy policy). No other network request is ever made.
The app requests no camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage or notification permissions.
12 Google Play Data Safety
Our Google Play Data Safety declaration states:
- Data collected: None
- Data shared: None
- Data encrypted in transit: Not applicable — no data is transmitted
- Data deletion: Users can delete all data in-app at any time

Combly is designed to comply with:
